David Nicholls heeft gewerkt als boekverkoper en acteur voordat hij scripts ging schrijven voor tv-series, waaronder het bekende Cold Feet. Hij brak internationaal door met zijn roman De eerste dag, die werd verfilmd als One Day. In 2015 verscheen zijn bejubelde nieuwe roman Wij. Nicholls woont in Londen met zijn vrouw en kinderen.
Nicholls heeft een leuke schrijfstijl en gebruikt graag die typische Britse humor in z’n boeken. Heerlijk! :-)
